Obituary - Thomas Patrick Dougherty Sr.

Thomas Patrick Dougherty, Sr., 89, of Henrico, went to be with the Lord May 9, 2023. He was preceded in death by two wives, Margaret C. Dougherty (1985) and Mary Lynn Dougherty (2020); and his son, Dennis W. Dougherty (2022). He is survived by his children, Theresa Gee, Thomas P. Dougherty, Jr. (Robin), Ruth Palczynski (Michael), Michael O’Reilly (Denise) and Carey Leone (John); 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Barbara A. Dougherty; and numerous other loving extended family members. Tom was a lifetime member of PGA of America. He was a Navy veteran and devoted lots of his time to the Wounded Warrior Project, teaching disabled veterans to play golf. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, with the inurnment to follow in the church columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, at woundedwarriorproject.org.
