Susan Evans Opdycke, of Richmond, passed away on August 14, 2024. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia to M. Edward Evans and Elizabeth Cralle Evans, she was predeceased by her parents and son, Hugh Evans Opdycke. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Opdycke Price (Andrew); and grandchildren, Tate McGowan Price and Parker Evans Price. Susan is also survived by her siblings, Robert E. Evans (Pamela) and William Cralle Evans, both of Lynchburg.

She was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School and Mary Washington College with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. Susan worked for Roche Biomedical Laboratories as a medical technologist from 1977 to 1985. From 1994 until her retirement in February 2021, she was a user support specialist at Boatwright Memorial Library at the University of Richmond. For the last three General Assembly sessions she served as an administrative aide.

Susan loved all animals, especially dogs. She cherished her many friendships over the years. Susan loved movies, travel and family get-togethers. She was devoted to her grandchildren, Tate and Parker, and enjoyed every minute she could be with them and was so proud of all of their accomplishments. Susan was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 13, at Trinity United Methodist Church on Forest Avenue at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude's Research Hospital, ASK, or any humane society in memory of Susan.
