Steven Lamarr Hixon, born November 5, 1960, to Willie and Dorothy Hixon in S.C., filled his earthly purpose on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Steve had passion; not only was he a hearer, but he was also a doer, a fixer, a problem solver. Steve graduated from the Camp LeJeune High School in Jacksonville, N.C. He received a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. and an M.B.A. from Averett University in Danville, Va. Steve loved playing basketball, watching western shows and eating seafood. He played basketball in high school and college. Steve worked for the Henrico County Prevention Services for over 33 years, where he initiated, led, contributed to and made an impact on many community and statewide initiatives. He worked in the Newbridge Community for over 27 years. Locally and statewide, Steve advocated for a better life for the youth. Steve's light and legacy will live on through his loved ones and the many youths he impacted. Viewing will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bliley's Funeral Home, 8510 Staples Mills Road, Richmond, Va. 23228, where a Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, at 8 a.m. Interment to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, the family respectfully requests that all attendees wear a mask.
