Shirley Henley Hall, of Richmond, Virginia, died suddenly and peacefully Thursday, January 14, 2021. She was born January 12, 1931. Mrs. Hall was a member of Springfield Christian Church in Rockville, Va. and also attended Parham Road Baptist Church in Richmond, Va. She was a life long resident of Richmond, Va. and was a graduate of Glen Allen High School in 1948. Shirley was a strong-willed woman who was also a generous, loving Christian who practiced her faith. Her straightforwardness was offset by a good sense of humor. She enjoyed antiques and collected handmade quilts because she enjoyed their beauty. Her family enjoyed her delicious homemade foods and she taught them all of the “good luck” practices of the great depression, like always making black-eyed peas on New Years Day. Shirley and her husband were a united force in raising their two precocious sons. As many in her generation, she believed in hard work and self-reliance. Mrs. Hall was predeceased by her parents Henry Leeland Henley and Mary Clarke Henley; her husband David L. Hall, Sr.; grandson Grayson Hall; and sister, Dorothy Henley. She is survived by two sons, David Lee Hall, Jr. and Robert Allen Hall; four grandchildren, David Lee Hall III (Katherine), Chad Hall (Lisa), Abbey Hall Easter (Jason) and Katie Hall; eight great-grandchildren, Rachael Hall, Megan Hall, Emily and Jared Hall, Rocco Hall, Chadwick “Wick” Hall, Jr., Robert Easter and Hazel Easter. The family is grateful for the care that Mrs. Hall received over the past year at The Manorhouse Assisted Living center. She came to treasure it as her home. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 17 in Springfield Christian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Springfield Christian Church, 18285 Vontay Rd., Rockville, Va. 23146 or Parham Road Baptist Church, 2101 N Parham Rd, Richmond, Va. 23229.
