Sally Anne Schmitzer Young, 54, of Henrico, VA, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Brian Schmitzer. She is survived by her beloved husband, Freeland Glen Young, III, daughter, Annabelle Grace Young, and son, Charles Freeland Young all of Short Pump; mother, Judith Anne Purcill Schmitzer Cummins, siblings, Andrew Holmes, Kate Schmitzer (Doug Taylor), Nicole Mariko Schmitzer, Michelle Moffett, and Lee Atkins, all of Australia, and Christopher Michael Schmitzer of Austin, TX.

Sally was born in Sydney, Australia and was a graduate of Stawell Secondary College in Victoria, AU. After moving to the USA in 2001 with General Electric, she held many positions throughout her working career, serving as Operations Leader with Genworth Financial, Vice President of Client Services with Alliance, and most recently, Private Investigator with Morse Investigation Services. Sally took pride in completing multiple Ironman competitions, local triathlons and marathons. While she was a fierce competitor, she was actively engaged in the local triathlete community and volunteered in countless events. She was extremely proud of organizing the inaugural and subsequent “We Heart Harlie Turkey Trot 5k”, to benefit medically fragile children. Her strongest passion was her family whom she loved dearly and she always had a place in her heart for one more stray, be it a lost dog or lost soul. Sally will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
