Sallie Blackwell Rawls, age 86, of Richmond, Virginia passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Lucy Magruder.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ash Rawls; son, Brian Rawls (Jennifer); grandchildren, Tyler Rawls (Jordan) and Dylan Rawls; and great-grandchildren, Mia Rawls, Ella Rawls, and Elijah Rawls.

Born in Arlington, Virginia, Sallie was a proud graduate of Westhampton College in Richmond, Virginia. She dedicated over 40 years to teaching in Henrico County, where she left a lasting impact on generations of students. After her retirement, Sallie continued to give of herself through her volunteer work at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, where she served faithfully for many years.

Known for her kindness and compassion, Sallie always put others before herself. Her gentle nature and warm spirit made everyone around her feel seen and cared for. She cherished her relationships above all, having been a lifelong friend to all who knew her. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy to her life.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116. A funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Woody Funeral Home with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Ln., Richmond, VA 23222.
