Obituary - Ruth Ellen Groome

Ruth Ellen Groome, (Sis), 91, of Richmond, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

Ruth worked in the insurance business, retiring from Blue Cross Blue Shield, as a Claims Representative at 63. She was a loving and devoted mother to her four children and loved spending time with her family. She was also an animal lover and enjoyed shopping, gardening, baking, canning and sewing. Ruth spent the last 5 ½ years at Westminster Canterbury Richmond where she was cared for by many loving and devoted caregivers who became her friends and a part of her family and for that her family will be forever grateful. Her family is especially thankful for her heroes in blue, Josephine Villamera and Linda Luke for all of their kindness, generosity and sunshine brought throughout the years. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, of 52 years, Willard Kermit (Kim), her son, Craig Kermit and her adored grandson, Ryan Thomas. She is survived by son, Glenn Groome (Jeanette), daughter, Laura Koontz, daughter, Tracey Walton (Robert), Kim Groome, Tina Groome, beloved grandchildren, Joshua, Colton, Taylor (Ron), Kyle (Mary), Sarah (Joseph), Jacob (Storm), Rachael (Douglas) and 14 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Westminster Canterbury Spiritual Center at 1600 Westbrook Ave., Richmond, VA, 23237 at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 28th. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Henrico County Fire and Rescue Dept. or to the Westminster Canterbury Fellowship Fund.
