Ronald Earl Redford, 65, of Richmond, Virginia passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025, after a brief illness.

Ron or Ronnie as he was known by family and friends was born March 8, 1959, to Raymond Calvin and Barbara Hilliard Redford. As a young child, Ronnie was active in baseball and football and continued playing throughout his school years until he graduated from Varina High School in 1978.

After high school, Ron enlisted in the U. S. Airforce where he began his law enforcement career. He served 4 years active duty, 2 years with the Air National Guard and 2 years with the Army National Guard.

Ron continued his law enforcement career working with Henrico County Sheriff's Office and the Virginia State Police; however, he always had the desire to be his own boss. He decided to leave law enforcement and begin his journey as an over the road truck driver. His career spanned several years, and he eventually owned several trucks. He truly enjoyed the freedom of the open road.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara H. Redford, his father-in-law, Lyle C. Madden and mother-in-law, Joan W. Madden. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary B. Redford; their children, Meghan Elizabeth of Sandston and Cameron Scott (Karlee) of Providence Forge; father, Raymond Calvin Redford; brother, James Redford; sisters, Teresa Redford Norton (Jeff) and Wanda Redford Hancock (Dennis); as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Virginia 23231 where a funeral service will be held Thursday, January 30, at 2 p.m.

Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
