On May 8, 2021, we lost a husband, father, grandfather, brother and a true friend. Ronald Dewey Wilkins was born November 27, 1942 to the late Helen Sheffield and Dewey Milton Wilkins. Ron is survived by his wife, Joan Twyford Wilkins; their son, David, his wife, Jennifer and their three daughters, Mary, Catharine and Annie. Also surviving is his brother, Gary and his wife, Trish and their daughter, Lauren and her family. His nephew, Brent M. Wilkins predeceased him. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Jane W. Twyford. Ron was a doting father and grandfather and surrounded his granddaughters with love and snuck them sweet treats whenever he could. The love of family always came first, but the game of golf was his second love, whether he was playing St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, Augusta National or a round at Hermitage Country Club; the next shot was going to be perfect and a lot of time it was. He always had a smile on his face and will be remembered for his kindness and always positive attitude. He found great joy in lifting up others. Ron served his country proudly as a U.S. Marine during the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bliley’s Funeral Home, 3801 Augusta Avenue, Richmond, Va. A graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 12291 River Road on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Circle Center Adult Day Care, circlecenterva.org, Rick Sharp Alzheimer’s Foundation, ricksharpeatz.org, or Amedisys Hospice Foundation, amedysis.com. The family hopes that you will lift a Miller Lite and give a toast and celebrate a life well-lived.
