Roberta Linden Wiener passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard Wiener and her three children, Jennifer (Steve Green), Jason (Sara Wiener) and Janna (Jose Murillo) and 6 grandchildren, Hannah, Madeline, Natalie, Noah, Ava and Zoe. Roberta was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on August 12, 1945 and attended Granby High School. She moved to Richmond to attend Richmond Professional Institute (RPI, now known as VCU) to major in education. She started her teaching career at Tuckahoe Middle School and then taught at Henrico Trade Center, which became Virginia Randolph Community High School, for over 30 years. During that time she completed her Master’s degree in Special Education at VCU while raising a family. When she retired from Henrico County Public Schools, Roberta then worked as a tutor at the Steward School for over 20 years. Roberta enjoyed reading, going to the movies and playing mahjong, which she did with friends for over 50 years. Roberta and Richard had many loving friends and made new friends when they moved to Avery Point last summer. She was a long standing member of B’nai Shalom which then merged with Temple Beth El, where she continued to attend and be a member of the Sisterhood. Roberta loved traveling and going out to eat, as well as attending plays/concerts at Broadway Under the Stars and the Glen Allen Cultural Arts Center. She loved her family very much and spent time with them at their multitude of events and activities over the years. Services will be held graveside, at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024 at B'nai Shalom section of Greenwood Cemetery, at 12609 Patterson Avenue. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the American Cancer Society or Our Laughter in the Rain non-profit care group.
