Roberta “Bobbi” Georgia McCrea, beloved sister, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to others. Born in Louisville, KY, and raised in Indianapolis, IN, she embodied a commitment to education, compassion for animals, and a deep love for her family and friends.
She earned her bachelor’s degree at Ball State University and later completed her master’s degree at Indiana University. During her time at Ball State, she became a proud member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority, forging friendships that lasted a lifetime. Her journey as an educator began in Seymour, Indiana, but in 1975, she moved to Richmond, Virginia, where she dedicated herself to teaching young minds at Jacob L. Addams Elementary and Crestview Elementary. Her passion for education touched the lives of countless students until her retirement from Henrico County Public Schools in 2006.
In retirement, she found joy and purpose volunteering and working with the Richmond Animal League, where her compassion and love for animals shined brightly.
She is survived by her sister, Virginia “Ginny” Woolwine, two children, Leigh and Drew, and daughter-in-law, Lara Demczenko. Her legacy also includes her cherished granddogs and grandcats, who brought her endless joy and entertainment.
Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. The world is a lesser place without her warmth and spirit.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294. Followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private.
