Robert Craig Lowerre, 57, of Glen Allen, VA, returned home to our Lord in the early hours of Sunday, February 23rd, 2025.
Bob was born in Fairfax, VA and raised in the loving care of Robert and Dorothy Lowerre. As a child he enjoyed picking on his younger sister Mary, hanging out with his neighborhood friends, playing DnD, playing drums, and doing well in school.
He began his education at Virginia Tech, majoring in Political Science and History, and served proudly as the Band Company Commander of The Highty Tighties in The Corps of Cadets; continuing his studies until he received his PhD in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. He started his career in education, helping to shape the futures of children at Highland Springs, Virginia Randolph, and Tucker High School(s). Passionate in ensuring that the youth of his community received fair, proper education he moved on to accept the role of Director of Maggie Walker Governor's School in Richmond, Va., where he impacted countless lives through his commitment and passion for learning and his love of all thing's history.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Tracy Lowerre; his father, Robert Lowerre; and his children Madison Gridley and husband Mike, Thomas Lowerre and wife Nicole, and his dog Nora; who brought immense joy to his life. He also leaves behind his sister, Mary Lowerre; sister-in-law, Debra Moses and husband Mark; and his cherished nieces and nephews: Christopher Moses, Allison Moses, Austin Embrey, and Taylor Clinton and her husband Andrew. He also leaves behind countless friends that he considered his family, far too many to list.
Bob had an unparalleled love for music, which was a constant source of joy and inspiration in his life. Whether it be on the water of the Potomac River, the French Quarter, or in the backyard with his family, Bob always had WW OZ Radio, Elton John or some other tune playing in the background. Working through every recipe in his many cookbooks was Bob's therapy. He loved to gather as many as he could to celebrate, share stories, and enjoy good food and a California red. He embraced every opportunity to travel, creating lasting memories and discovering new horizons alongside his loved ones.
A life so richly lived will be celebrated by all who knew him. He had a huge network of friends from many different groups. He was often the tie that binds! His spirit will continue to inspire those left behind, reminding us to cherish our relationships, explore our passions, play a good game of poker, enjoy a slice of pizza, live life to the fullest, and challenge yourself in every moment along the way.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Lowerre and his beloved dogs Winston and Shiloh.
