Richard Jason Smith, 50, of Henrico, VA, peacefully entered the embrace of the Lord on August 9, 2023, following a valiant and unwavering four-year battle against cancer. He is now reunited with his beloved parents, Richard and Peggy Smith, who preceded him in passing. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Britton “Britt” Smith, and his three remarkable children: Parker, Chase, and Grant.

Jason was an extraordinary spouse and father, radiating love and devotion in every moment spent with his wife and cherished boys. The evenings were transformed into treasured memories as he immersed himself in reading to them, and during the day he imparted his love of fishing onto his sons.

His profession as an electrician resonated with his deep-rooted love for working with his hands, a passion that was evident in every project he undertook. Beyond this, Jason's rhythm and grace on the dance floor were truly remarkable, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to witness his moves. His heart also found a home within the West End Presbyterian Church, where he remained an active and valued member.

The family is profoundly appreciative of the outpouring of unwavering support they received from family, friends, and neighbors during his valiant battle.

To celebrate the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind, a gathering of friends and family will take place on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 4 pm to 7 pm, at Bliley’s Funeral Home – Staples Mill Chapel. A Celebration of Life ceremony will follow on Friday August 18, 2023 at 11am, at West End Presbyterian Church (9008 Quioccasin Road). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West End Presbyterian Church- Deacon’s Fund. For condolences, see blileys.com.
