Obituary - Peggy Carroll Roberts

Peggy Carroll Roberts, of Richmond, VA, went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2025. She was born on April 26, 1937, in Richmond, VA to the late John Edward Carroll and Beatrice Lawrence. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence (Red) Craig Roberts, Sr., her sister Joan C. Clayton and her daughter in law, Cindy Ross. She is survived by her children, Melinda Ross Lestyan and her husband Steve of Richmond, VA, William James (Jim) Ross IV, of Meridian, MS, John Claiborne Roberts and his wife Kirsten of Richmond, VA and Clarence Craig Roberts, Jr. and his wife Jessica of Wilmington, NC as well as nine grandchildren, Lauren Marie Lestyan, Stephen Ross Lestyan (fiancé, Julia May), Kelli Nelson Street (Jeremy), Mackenzie Ross Goldman (Alex), Morgan Ross Reed (Garrett), Jaiden Roberts, Zoria Rose Roberts, Zyler Thomas Roberts and Brooklyn Lily Roberts and one great grand-child, Gavin Moffett (fiancé, Sydney Goodman).

Peggy was a long-time member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church and Skipwith Baptist prior to joining Mount Vernon. She found great joy and satisfaction in serving in the nursery and caring for little ones. She also worked alongside of her husband for many years in their business Roberts Insurance Agency handling the operations and finances. Together, Kanawha Youth Football program grew from an idea in their living room to reality in 1986 where she also used her organizational and accounting skills to help launch the new league in the West End of Richmond.

The family will receive guests from 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 6th at Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St, Glen Allen, VA 23060. A Celebration Service of Peggy’s life will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, February 7, 2025 in the Chapel at Bennett followed by interment at Westhampton Memorial Park.
