Paul Allen Aldred, 75, of Glen Allen, Virginia passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving daughters.

Paul was born in Galax, Virginia on October 26, 1948. As a child Paul loved sports and played both baseball and football for Galax High School.

After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served two active-duty tours in Vietnam. Upon his return from the war, he met Patsy Darlene Aldred, and the two were wed in 1970 at the Methodist Church in Fries, Virginia. The couple welcomed their first child in 1976, and soon after relocated to Richmond, Virginia. Two more daughters were born in the coming years, completing their family of five.

Paul’s military service paved the way for what would become a lifelong career and passion for feeding others. He began employment at Marquis Food Services and stayed with the company for over two decades, eventually becoming the Vice President. Paul worked for many of his food service years at Collegiate School in Richmond, where he was affectionately known as Chef Paul. He enjoyed creating new recipes for the students and faculty, and particularly loved hosting international food-themed weeks. He brought his passion for food home by feeding his family, and anyone who walked through his door.

Paul spent his retirement years doing what he loved most: spending time with his family, cooking, watching football, and walking the neighborhood handing out dog treats and American flags.

Paul will be remembered for his generous and hard-working spirit, his love for his country and family, and the special place he held in his heart for all of his canine friends.

Survivors include his daughters, Amber Aldred (Matthew Turner), Brandy Aldred, and Crystal Aldred; his grandchildren, Jordan Aldred, Justice Parks, Jada Parks, Veda Turner, and Van Turner; and his sister Anita Roberts (Leonard). He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Ray and Ruth Isom Aldred; and his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Patsy Darlene Aldred.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Crump Park, shelter 1, located at 3400 Mountain Rd. Glen Allen on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 1:00pm. Dogs welcome.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the local SPCA in memory of Paul, honoring his love for animals.
