Thrower, Meredith Sanderlin, 52, passed away in Richmond, Virginia, on January 18, 2025, following a brief battle with cancer.

Meredith was loved by all who knew her. She was born in Richmond, graduating from Freeman High School (Class of 1990), University of Richmond (Class of 1994) where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, University of Kentucky (Master’s, 1995), and University of Richmond Law School (Class of 2003). Meredith found her professional calling as a securities lawyer, first at McGuireWoods and later at Dominion Energy. She was a devoted, lifelong member of Centenary United Methodist Church and an active volunteer and supporter of Make-a-Wish Greater Virginia and University of Richmond Law School.

Meredith was predeceased by her father, James Linwood Sanderlin and her husband Alexander Weatherly Thrower and is survived by her mother, Mary Sue Sanderlin; two adoring sons, John Godfrey Thrower and George Sanderlin Thrower; her sister, Elaine Sanderlin Ryan and her husband Sean; her brother, James Barry Sanderlin and his wife Kate; her mother-in-law Lucy Shannon Crosland Thrower; her sister-in-law Mary Thrower Kulp and her husband Scott; five wonderful nephews, James, George, Teddy, Henry, and Reid; as well as by numerous relatives and dear friends from far and wide.

Meredith was beloved for her thoughtfulness and caring for others, never forgetting a birthday or important milestone, and always making sure the moment was captured with a photo.

Mer, we will miss your beautiful smile and joyful spirit, and will carry your light with us always. You are our forever, darling, brown-eyed girl.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 411 E. Grace St., Richmond, Va. 23219, followed by a reception in the church's fellowship hall. Memorial donations may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church or to Make-a-Wish Greater Virginia.
