Thorpe, Marvin Lee “Pro,” age 92, of Henrico, was born in Richmond, Virginia, February 25, 1931. He passed November 9, 2023 after a brief illness. Pro is survived by two children, R. Wayne Thorpe of Atlanta and Leslie Weber of Glen Allen; and by daughter in law, Jane Thorpe; and son in law, Dave Weber. Pro had four grandchildren, Scott Thorpe (Rachel), Sara Stanley (Ben), Natalie Weber, and Nick Weber; and three great grandchildren, Ella Thorpe, Will Thorpe and Cooper Stanley. Pro was the oldest child of Marvin and Eula Thorpe and older brother of Ann Thorpe, and he married Betty Hubbard in 1952. All of them predeceased Pro. He had more than a dozen aunts and uncles, and over 40 first cousins. Pro worked in the trucking business as a dispatcher and warehouse manager almost 45 years. He served in the US Navy Reserves for 8 years in the 1950’s and ‘60’s. He retired from the trucking business in 1993. He last resided at Sunrise assisted living facility where he enjoyed socializing with other residents and walking daily on the grounds. He had a love for baseball, dancing and going out to eat – and above all for his family and church. The family will hold a Celebration of Life Ceremony on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Skipwith Baptist Church, 1900 Skipwith Rd. in Henrico, Va. The ceremony will be followed immediately by a reception in the Church Fellowship Hall. Flowers may be sent to the Church for the service. Donations in Pro’s memory may be made to Skipwith Baptist Church.
