Martha Miles, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on February 27, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on January 29, 1942, in Buckingham, Virginia, Martha dedicated her life to her family, creating a nurturing home for her children and those fortunate enough to cross her path. Residing in Henrico, Virginia, she was a quintessential homemaker whose devotion to her family was unmatched.
Martha's love for children was at the heart of her being; she spent countless joyful years raising her daughter, Sandra Miles, and her son, Lewis Miles. As a grandmother to Michelle Gregory (Matthew) and Tiffany Miller (Chris), and later as a great-grandmother to Jordan Swann, Rylan Burch, Aubrey Miller, Nadia Miller, CJ Miller, and Colson Miller, her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter and warmth. Her ability to connect with children brought light to their lives, fostering a loving environment where they felt cherished and supported.
A passionate gardener, Martha found joy in tending to her flower beds and growing her own fruits and vegetables. Her gardens were a testament to her nurturing spirit and served as a source of pride and beauty. In her leisure time, she could often be found outside, tending to her plants, reveling in the tranquility of nature, and sharing the bounty of her labor with family and friends.
Martha Miles will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. She leaves behind a rich legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories that will endure in the hearts of her loved ones.
Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 49 years, Stanley Miles.
A celebration of Martha’s life will take place 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 14, at Bliley’s, 8510 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA 23228. Interment to follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Road, Hanover, VA 23069.
