Maria De Los Angeles Valdespino, 65, of Henrico Virginia, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Maria was the daughter of the late Gregorio Gonzalez and Elena Moreno of Jalisco, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Valdespino; daughter Lucero Gonzalez; and brother Agapito Gonzalez.
Maria was a nurse for the Red Cross in Mexico for some time before immigrating to the United States and eventually settling in Belle, West Virginia. She was a loving matriarch to her family and a loving friend to anyone she met. She was a member of St John’s Catholic Church in Belle, West Virginia for more than 25 years and worked in home care for many years before her early retirement.
She is survived by her son, Gabriel Gonzalez (Susy Padilla); her daughters, Rosie Valdespino, Lourdes Valdespino (William Cunningham), Maria Gonzalez; and her grandchildren, Abigail Gonzalez, William Gonzalez, and Angel Gonzalez; and numerous brothers, sisters, and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Parkway, Richmond, Virginia 23294. It was Maria’s wish to be cremated and her remains will join her family in Mexico.
