Manley C. Barden, 83 of Sandston, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 30, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents Adelaide and William I. Barden, Sr.; sister, Beverly Miksch; and brothers, William I. Barden, Jr. and Joseph Barden.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joanne Pitts Barden; daughters, Amy Barden Gray (Danny) and Kimberly Barden-Robinson (Tyrone); and grandchildren, Daniel and Trevor Gray, Jordan, Jessica, Jade and Jasmine Robinson; sister, Mary Sue Goode; brother, James M. Barden (Tina); sister-in-law, Anita Barden; and numerous other family members.

Manley loved the Lord first and served Him wholeheartedly. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of much wisdom, an encourager with a quick wit, always willing to help meet the needs of other people. Laughter and love shared with family and friends were sources of great joy. Such a Godly man is now receiving his reward of a life well lived.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 4, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231.

A funeral service will be held Friday, January 5, at 11:30 a.m. at Fairmount Christian Church, 6502 Creighton Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23111.

Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Fairmount Christian Church in Manley’s memory.
