Lung Chiang Wu, 89, of Glen Allen, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

Lung Chiang was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Mei Lin Wu; son Lung Chiang Wu Jr.; son Samuel Wu, his wife, Diem Wu; and their children, Isabelle and Ashley.

Lung Chiang was born on February 29, 1936, and grew up in the small town of Cha Li, Taiwan. He came to the United States to pursue a better life for his family. He obtained his PhD in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of Michigan. Lung Chiang loved sharing his knowledge with others and taught countless students as a professor of Computer Science at the University of Michigan Flint. He was passionate about travel and proudly owned Lapeer Travel Agency while still teaching. He moved from Michigan to Virginia to spend more time with his granddaughters, who lovingly referred to him as “Grandkong”. Lung Chiang leaves a legacy of passion for traveling, optimism, and love for the University of Michigan.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. His family invites you to remember him in your hearts and prayers. The family extends their deepest gratitude to his extended family, friends, neighbors, and caregivers for their support throughout his life.
