Linwood Ryland Green, Jr.,77, of Henrico, passed away on December 27, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his father, Linwood R. Green, Sr.; and mother, Mary Schemerhorn Hodges.

Linwood was born and raised in Varina and attended Varina High School. He was a Vietnam veteran and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after 35 years of service. Linwood was an avid hunter from the time he was a young boy in Varina and later in Amelia with his dear friend, Buster Anderson. He also was an avid fisherman and loved his time spent on the Rappahannock River with family and friends. Linwood never met a stranger.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Joanne Hawkes Green; daughters, Bonney S. Green, Shawna L. Green (Scott); step-children, Amy W. Spinella, Adam N. Weatherington; grandchildren, Aubrey Bullock, Reid Christensen, Jack Spinella, Adam Weatherington, Skylar Weatherington; siblings, Walter S. Green (Sherry), Mary Frances Messenger (Joe); uncle, Lawrence Schemerhorn (Elizabeth); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 5 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Pine Grove Memorial Cemetery, 15650 Genito Rd., Amelia, Va. 23002.
