Obituary - Lindy Easter Oakley

Lindy Easter Oakley of Sandston, VA went to be with the Lord January 18, 2025.
Ms. Oakley was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Norman “Mike” Oakley. Her sister, Mollie Easter Rupe and her mother Mattie Easter Hanson.
She is survived by her two loving daughters Sheila Harvey Pigninelli and Cheryl Beamer (Frank). Four grandchildren, James “Jay” Harvey (Lisa), Stacie Breaker, Shane Beamer (Emily), and Casey Prater (Canaan). Cherished survivors also include nieces Michelle Hudgins (Art), Denise Dunlevy (Keith), and Rhonda Payne, nine great grandchildren, six great nieces and nephews and eleven great great nieces and nephews who adored their Mucka.
Lindy was born in 1927 in the city of Richmond. She is a 1944 graduate of John Marshall High School. She retired from the Defense General Supply as a Management Analyst after 30+ years. She was a huge fan of Virginia Tech and University of South Carolina football, where she religiously attended regular season games and bowl games. She loved to play bingo. She was part of the “Bingo Mafia” who consisted of Yvonne, Brenda, and Barbara. Who were also her Skipbo card playing friends.
She was a lifetime member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church. Where she served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and a member of the choir and handbells. She was also a member of the Saints Alive Senior Group. Ms. Oakley was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Her greatest love was her family and her Lord.
There will be visitation held at Nelson Funeral Home, 4650 S Laburnum Ave, Monday, January 27, 2025, from 4pm-7pm. The funeral will take place at Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church, 2010 Carlisle Ave, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 10am, with graveside service following at Washington Memorial Park.
Lindy’s family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff ACG Hospice particularly Heather and Sharday and the CNA’s of Heritage Green Assisted Living for the their daily care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the St. Jude’s Hospital or the American Heart Association.
