Lilie Mae Pope Gardner, 92, of Henrico, is now "Home with Jesus", her Lord and Savior. She was a faithful wife and mother to her family. Her journey is now complete and will wait for family and friends in Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Marion Edgar Gardner, Sr.; father, Charles B. Pope; mother, Minnie Pearl Newcome; brothers, James Henry Pope, Chester Pope, Charles "Bubby" Pope; sister, Pearl "Nina" Barbour; great-grandchild, Mathias Paul Crane.
Lilie was a homemaker and devoted member of Highland Springs Church of the Nazarene. She loved to play Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Marion E. Gardner, Jr. (Cindy), Patsy Butler (Billy), Linda McKinley (Roger), Teresa Miles (Wayne, Sr.), David Gardner (Elaine); grandchildren, Wendy (Branden), Angie (Matt), Jason (Melinda), Kelly (Tom), Tammy (Randy), Tee, Wayne, Jr., Matthew (Lydia), Cassy (Ernie); 19 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
