Lawson “Kin” Kincaid Headley, Jr, was surrounded by his family as he went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Heaven rejoiced as he was embraced by Jesus. Kin was a wonderful husband and father, and he passed away at the age of 51 after a 4-year battle with glioblastoma.

Kin was born on August 24, 1969 in Richmond, VA to Carol Scott Henderson and Lawson Headley, Sr. Growing up in Richmond, he was a proud JR Tucker Tiger, and went on to graduate from James Madison University where he made the most of his time there, cheering on the Dukes to many basketball victories. He was a brother in Lambda Chi Alpha, active in InterVarsity, and intramurals. Kin met his future bride, Courtney Coleman during the first week of her freshman year. Together, they built a 25-year marriage and raised two amazing children, LeAnna and Lawson “Caid” Kincaid, III. For most of his career, Kin worked as an Associate Broker with Hometown Realty. Kin had a passion for golf, JMU football, and sweet tea. He devoted many hours of love to student ministries with both Hope Church and YoungLife. Kin was the life of the party and everyone’s favorite designated driver, having made a lifetime choice to forgo alcohol. Kin was known for his big smile, big heart, and impressive dance moves. In a final gesture of love, Kin’s tumor was donated for further study to continue the fight against glioblastoma.

Kin is survived by his wife, Courtney, his children, LeAnna and Caid, his parents, Carol (Jim) Henderson and Lawson Headley, his sisters Beth (Danny) Worrell and Carla (Spencer) Dillard and in-laws, Bo (Judy) Coleman, Ashley (Randy) Nickerson, and Lowell (Leah) Coleman. He was known as “Unkin” to Trent Worrell, Jordan Dillard, Elisa Kurant, Hannah Dillard, Alyssa Sprinkle, Ellia Nickerson, Brent Nickerson, Liam Coleman, Luca Coleman, and Rhett Worrell. Kin will be missed by a multitude of dedicated and loyal friends. Pallbearers are Danny Worrell, Spencer Dillard, Randy Nickerson, Lowell Coleman, Trent Worrell, Jordan Dillard, and Michael Murray. The Headley family would like to extend a special thank you to Bon Secours Hospice and VCU Neuro-Oncology Department for the care they provided during Kin’s illness.

Family will receive visitors at Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street, Glen Allen, VA from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Monday, November 9th.

An outdoor funeral service will be held at The Lodge at Hope Church, 12445 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, VA on November 10th at 11:00 am. If you would like to attend in person, you will want to dress comfortably and consider bringing a chair or blanket. You may also attend virtually through Livestream at HopeCentral.com.

There are several organizations that were near and dear to Kin’s heart. If you are considering making a donation in his honor, we suggest donating to Our Amazing Fighters (his daughter’s ministry that provides love and support to children battling cancer); YoungLife-West End; or JMU Foundation - Win4Kin.

Kin, until we meet again and Jesus fulfills the words of a favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd song to “carry me home to see my Kin”, I will continue to love and miss you. Love always, Courtney
