Judy was born at MCV Hospital on November 13, 1954, to James and Evelyn Loving - as the 12th, and last, of their children. Four of her brothers and sisters - Dorothy Ham, Elenor Loving, Larry Loving (Donna), Leonard Loving and special sister-in law, Donna Loving- remain to cherish her memory.

After graduating Varina High School, Judy got married and had three girls, Jennifer (Kelly), Jessica (Hunter), and Jaclyn. For the next 20 years, she dedicated her time to raising strong, independent girls and caring for her sick mom, all while supporting her husband in the family business.

After her girls went off to college and work, Judy started her own career as an admin at Capital One. She accelerated through the ranks, finding process management the most fulfilling, and retired from that position in January 2023, after more than 20 years. She received many awards and was held in high esteem by coworkers and managers - as an employee and a person.

In her free time, Judy loved being a mom - spending time with her daughters, laughing, rocking in a rocking chair, and just sitting outside; reading, traveling, keeping up with her large family and friends, and going to the beach - especially Nags Head, NC. Judy’s best friend of more than fifty years, Joan Burnette, was a frequent travel buddy, along with being her biggest cheerleader and greatest companion over the years.

While Judy birthed three daughters, she gained a devoted son in Hunter Clay, Jessica’s husband, who always kept her on her toes. Judy’s furry feline baby, Ellie, will miss spending cuddle time in the chair and waking Judy up just a little too early every morning.

Along with Jennifer, Jessica, Jaclyn, and their families, Judy leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will always tell her stories, and continue to keep her memory alive.

A visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave, Richmond, VA 23231 from 5-8pm on Monday, March 18, 2024. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ASPCA or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital - both charities that Judy regularly sponsored.
