Obituary - Joyce Landreth Doyle

Doyle, Joyce Landreth, 89 went to her heavenly home on March 20, 2023. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Wilburn Doyle, her children Angela Henley and her husband Will, and Wilburn (Buddy) Doyle, Jr. and his wife Stacie, grandchildren Danielle Ferrie, Dalton, Justin, Colton and Melissa Henley, her sisters Sue Burgess (Dewey), Gayle Gilbert (Ralph), Twila White (HL), her brother Ronnie (Sandy), and her great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Douglas Doyle II, parents Josephine and Alvin Landreth, brother Vivian and sister Dawn Deal.

Joyce was born in 1934 in Allisonia, VA and moved to the town of Pulaski in 1947 where she met her devoted husband. She moved to Richmond in 1954 where she worked for INA until the birth of her first child. Joyce worked for the VA Baptist General Assembly as an executive assistant to the Treasurer from 1980 until retiring in 1995. She was a faithful follower of Jesus, a member of North Run Baptist Church and later Mount Vernon Baptist Church. She and Wilburn were adventurous and traveled to every state in the US, and many countries around the globe dancing their way through life together. She was a generous, kind and loving wife, mother, sister and friend.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, March 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W Broad Street. A service will be held on Monday, March 27 at 11:00 at the Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 11220 Nuckols Road followed by a reception in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Serenity First Hospice Foundation.
