Obituary - Joseph Kelly

Joseph “Joe” Kelly, 88, of Henrico, passed away on Christmas morning. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Van R., Sr and Camilla Kelly; brother, J. Van R. Kelly, Jr; sister, Barbara K. Johnson; son, Michael Kelly; and nephew, Pat Kelly.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruth Cook Kelly; sons, Brian Kelly (Susie) and Time Kelly from Salem, VA; daughter, Angela K. Becker (Jim) from Richmond; niece, Donna K. Saunders (Rick); sister-in-law, Jean Kelly; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
Joe graduated from Benedictine, Class of 1954. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army and spent 16 months in Korea. Joe was an avid NASCAR Radio and TV Broadcaster. He announced at various race tracks from Florida to New York for Stock Car and Motorcycle races. The family would like to thank Linda Brizendine for her compassionate care for Joe and Affinity Hospice Care and their wonderful staff. A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
