Joseph Elmer Carroll, Jr. left this world for his new home with God on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. Joe was born on February 28, 1952, to the late Joseph E. Carroll and Mary B. Carroll. He worked many years for Terminix and then for Whitehall Robbins. He was a member of the United States Air Force, serving from 1971 to 1975 based in Guam. Joe was proud to be a member of the American Legion. Joe enjoyed flower gardening and was a collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia. He enjoyed being a model railroader and coin collector.

Everyone who knew Joe loved him and will cherish his memory. Everyone who loved Joe knew how much he loved his family, especially his son Joseph Elmer Carroll III. Besides his son, others left to cherish his memory are his sister, Mary Profilio (Steven); three nieces, Elsie Profilio (Dustin), Nancy Profilio and Helen Profilio; three grandnieces, Emma Williams, Savannah Williams and Della Rose Kestner; a host of cousins, friends; and his significant other, Ruth Arlene Hurley, all of our local area.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231. In lieu of flowers the family requests that monetary donations be sent to Joe’s home at 117 Defense Ave, Sandston, VA 23150 in the name of his son, Joseph Carroll III.
