John Herman Wiltshire, 68, of Varina, VA passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024, after a long and brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

John (Johnny) Herman Wiltshire is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Mary Weaver Wiltshire; loving daughter, Katelyn Nicole Wiltshire; brother, Howard Wiltshire (Pam); sister, Barbara Greene; and devoted nephew, Jeremy Greene (Bryant); nieces, Kimberly Dahl (Dan), Tabatha Gore (Michael) and April Becker (Todd); and many other dear great nieces and nephews, and family friends.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Welford and Phyllis Wiltshire; brother, Ernie Wiltshire; nephew, Daniel Wiltshire; and niece, Carrie Trampel.

Johnny was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Poverty Hunt Club in Brunswick County, VA. Another passion of Johnny’s was playing baseball, no doubt ” Rooster” (as he was endearingly nicknamed) is playing 2nd base and lead-off batter at blazing speed with his buddy, Bill Hickman on their heavenly team.

Johnny was a devoted husband and father. He never missed his daughter, Katelyn’s softball games. Whether sideline coaching or sitting in the bleachers, Johnny was her biggest fan and worst critic! She was his pride and joy! Johnny’s service in the U.S. Army was a great source of pride to him. Johnny retired as a truck driver from Iron Mountain in 2021 after 15 years of service and had worked for Broudy Kantor Wine Distributor for 17 years.

Johnny’s family is forever grateful for all of the generous support from family and friends. We would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice and The V.A. Hospital of Virginia for the care and dedication to his care throughout this journey.

Johnny was a big personality and will be greatly missed by all who knew him both family and friends. A private ceremony will be held at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia where Johnny’s ashes will be interred at a later date.
