John Eubank Gibson, Jr., born January 9, 1940 in Richmond, departed this life after a long illness and went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 1, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. Gibson, Sr. and Virgie W. Gibson; wife, Patty M. Gibson; and close friend, Buddy Cox. He leaves in loving memory, three devoted daughters, Donna G. Pitts (Steve), Trudy G. Williams (Scott) and Lea Ann G. Pauli (David); seven adored grandchildren, Benjamin Pitts (Jessica), Brian Pitts (Miranda), Keith Williams (Kaitlyn), Cassie Williams, Dallas Williams, Megan Payette (Mitchell) and Karen Pauli; two great-grandchildren; cousin, Jay Brown (Susan); and lifelong friend, Bobby Brizendine (Joyce).

Johnny was a longtime member of Richmond-Lakeside Moose Lodge 1714, FOE 4211 Lakeside Eagles and a member of Fairmount Christian Church for over 60 years. He never met a stranger and his heart and home were always open to others. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice and his loving caregiver, Nash. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231 where a service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. Interment will be private.
