LEROY, John Barry, of Henrico, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Harding LeRoy; son, David Barry LeRoy; brother, Garland LeRoy; and sisters, Theresa Coates and Henrietta McCauley. He is survived by his children, Margo House (William), Gail Claus (David), Susan Osborn (Arnold) and John B. LeRoy Jr. In addition to his children, he is survived by his brother, C. F. LeRoy; and sister, Denise Carnohan; 16 precious grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. LeRoy was an Army veteran who was assigned to a MASH unit during the Korean War. He was employed as a risk manager by Reynolds Metals Company for 33 years, and as an independent consultant for the next 10 years.

He was an active member of Henrico County Republican Committee, Knights of Columbus Council 395, American Legion Post 84, and the Friday night Benedictine Abbey Group. In his political activities, he served as a delegate in five Republican Party National Conventions.

He has asked that he be remembered by the words of Maya Angelou: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Bliley’s, 8510 Staples Mill Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Friday March 10, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Gayton Rd. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 3 p.m.
