Obituary - Joan Marie Crider

Joan Marie Crider, 66, of Henrico, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024, at home, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Claire, and sister, Barbara Jean.

She is survived by her brother and sister, Dale (Tinia) and Gail (Bill), special caregivers, niece, Michelle and nephew in law, Nathan. Nieces and nephew, Kelly (Joel), Christy, Lisa, Alyssa, and Quenten. Great nephews and nieces, Elijah, Ava Rose, Jaden, Nicole, Keion, Patrick, and Clara Jean. Great great nephew, Romeo.

Before retiring to become a full time caregiver for her parents, Joan spent 40 years at Hatcher Child Development Center as a preschool teacher. She had a love for helping children grow and foster their spirituality.

Joan’s love for photography was well known, you could count on her to capture all of her family’s special moments, especially around the holidays. She was financially savvy, always looking for a good bargain, and there was never a receipt that she didn’t check twice before leaving the register. After a shopping trip, Joan loved going out to eat, taking a nap, and then going to play bingo. In her free time, she also enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino.

A visitation will occur Monday, January 29, 2024 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229. A funeral service for Joan will be held Monday, January 29, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Woody Funeral Home-Parham, 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229.
