Jennifer Sangston Schooler, 59, of Henrico County, VA, formerly Spotsylvania, VA, died on Monday, June 3, 2024, in the compassionate care of Bon Secours Community Hospice House after spending the day surrounded by loved ones including her mother, Loretta Sangston; four children Hilary Bishop, Kelli Schooler, Karla Schooler, and Dustin Schooler and their respective partners; three aunts Ev Boehm, Lou Linza, and Kay Zoldos; her best friend for more than 30 years, Lori Jones; and Pastor Gary Olson, of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, who performed the Commemoration of the Dying service.

Jenni was born in Washington D.C. at Georgetown Hospital on Monday, August 24, 1964, at 6:30 a.m. She grew up in Arlington, VA as an only child. Jenni enjoyed her education and extracurricular activities, especially the drill team at Wakefield High School. She furthered her education by obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Education at Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA. She went on to be a dedicated English teacher for 25 years in Spotsylvania and Stafford counties. Jenni absolutely loved the ocean and dolphins. Taking trips to Ocean City, MD was a regular part of her childhood with her Aunt Evelyn and cousins Steve, Billy, and Mike. Her aunt Ev affectionally referred to her as her “daughter and beach buddy”. She had many fond memories of spending time with her cousins and other family members who now reside in Northern Virginia and connect yearly with a hallmark grab bag event at Christmastime. Jenni touched the lives of many individuals including her students, colleagues, family, friends, and healthcare providers with a bright and cheerful attitude, often using humor to connect with others and cope with life’s challenges.

Jenni is survived by her mother, Loretta Sangston; daughters Hilary Bishop (Riley Angel), Kelli Schooler (Jo Cooper), and Karla Schooler (Stephen White); and son Dustin Schooler.

A service of remembrance will be scheduled at a later date.
