Jason Scott Takacs, 44, of Henrico, Virginia, passed away on February 3, 2024. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert C. Dartnell and Jean Vannoy Dartnell; and his paternal grandfather, Louis Takacs. Jason is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Sarah Houck Takacs; his sons, Thomas ‘Aiden’ Takacs and Christian Price Takacs; loving parents, Thomas Paul Takacs and Betty Dartnell Takacs; grandmother, Patricia Anne Takacs; brother, Christopher Travis Takacs (Kelsey); mother-in-law, Elizabeth Tweedy Houck; sister-in-law, Katherine Elizabeth Houck (Tom Neville); brother-in-law, David Langhorne Houck (Bonnie); sisters-in-law, Heather Houck Harris (Chad) and Allison Houck Kahl (Jeremy); nieces and nephews, Taylor Takacs, Lewis Takacs, Arden Takacs, Noé Mina, Liam Harris, A.J. Houck, Jude Harris, Andrea Houck, Isa Harris, Carson Kahl, and Evan Kahl; as well as his devoted Labrador Retrievers, Wrigley and Daisy.

He was born and raised on April 20, 1979, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and was a graduate of Parkersburg High School (’97) and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (‘01). Jason was most recently employed by Henrico County as a Capital Projects Division Manager. He was an avid Virginia Tech football fan and loved all Chicago sports (especially the Cubs). He also enjoyed cooking for his family, watching his boys play soccer, playing golf with friends and family, and fishing on the pier. He cherished spending time with his adoring pups. Jason will be missed by many that loved him dearly. The world has lost a truly kind man with a quiet, steady strength.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 8, at Bliley’s, 8510 Staples Mill Road, in Richmond. A memorial celebration will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February 9, at Reveille United Methodist Church, 4200 Cary Street, in Richmond, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.
