James “L.J./Jim” Lewis Sluder, Jr., 74, of Sandston, VA, was freed of his pain on August 29, 2024. L.J. was born to Bessie and James L. Sluder, Sr. on May 1, 1950, in Richmond, VA.

L.J. dedicated upwards of five decades to being a truck driver all across the US. He was very proud of his career and retired from R&L Carriers. Jim was someone who would give the shirt off of his back to help people and was very protective of those he loved. His hobbies were bass fishing, NASCAR, hot rods, and Harleys.

He is survived by his only child, a loving and devoted daughter, Jennifer Wilson (Mike); his three cherished grandchildren, Emma, Max, and Malcolm Wilson; Ex-wife, friend, and loyal caregiver, Marcia Sluder; brother, Butch Stults (Debbie); a stepson, Conway Harris (Lisa); six bonus grandchildren, Caitie, Lucie, Cyd, Will, Piper, and Leo; many special cousins, extended family members, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2024, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at Affinity Funeral Service, 8074 Mechanicsville Tpke, Mechanicsville, VA 23111.
