Isaac Owen Tan, 15, of Glen Allen, VA, went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2022. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Peter and Theresa Tan. He is survived by his parents, Courtney Templeton and John Tan; younger brothers, Caleb, Maxwell, and Dylan; maternal grandparents, David and Judy Templeton; uncles, Jeffrey Templeton, Tyler Templeton, Joseph Tan, Bonaventure Tan (Linh), Anton Tan (Takako), and David Tan (Sarah); aunt, Mary Tran (Tuan); as well as many cousins, friends, and classmates who will miss his light in their lives. Isaac was an extremely bright, compassionate, caring, one-of-a-kind soul who enjoyed helping others and making them laugh. He excelled in his studies at Glen Allen High School and aspired to be a future engineer. From a very young age he lived to learn and was constantly educating us in any subject instead of us educating him.

Isaac loved his family and adored his lead role as big brother. He was a natural born teacher and loved to help his brothers with their homework or any subject. He loved food and travel. He enjoyed camping and hiking and participating in Boy Scouts. He loved astronomy and gazing at the stars with his telescope. He loved to do yardwork, especially mowing, and aspired to grow his own lawn mowing business throughout the rest of high school. Isaac also had a huge sense of humor and ran his own sarcastic “fake news” website, IFNN News (Isaac’s Fake News Network), which we share for your amusement here: https://ifnnofficial.wixsite.com/latest

To honor Isaac, a gathering of family and friends will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, December 8, at Bliley’s, 8510 Staples Mill Road, followed at 7 p.m. for a Christian wake service and praying of the Rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m., Friday, December 9, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, with the family receiving friends one hour prior and a reception at the church following the service in the Commons. Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Isaac be remembered with a donation to any of the following charities:

The Jed Foundation

Boy Scouts of America

The National Park Foundation
