Irene Rogers Dolan, 87, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2022. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George P. Dolan. Irene is survived by her son, Patrick Lee Dolan; her daughter-in-law, Amber Dolan; and a large circle of extended family and friends. Many knew her as a sweet southern lady with a heart of gold, who was not only a devoted wife and mother, but someone who lived her life dedicated to her faith. She showed that devotion through her caring, giving nature and the volunteer work she was involved with her whole life. Irene regularly attended the Richmond Council, the local Garden Club, and the Christian Women’s Club. She was, also, a regular volunteer at Henrico Doctors' Hospital - Forest for over 25 years. She also supported her husband, George, who suffered from retinitis pigmentosa, in his work with the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Furthermore, she was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church for close to 60 years and was an active member in all events and charity work they participated in. Despite all of her contributions and volunteer work, Irene Dolan was a caring and simple woman, who loved her family, and her cats, who always welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. She will be missed by all who knew her, and of her love and generosity. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at First Free Will Baptist, 8985 Hungary Rd., Richmond, Va. 23294. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2022, at First Free Will Baptist, followed by a brief graveside service at 2 p.m. in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund.
