Obituary - Irene Regenia Steele

Mrs. Irene Steele, age 87, of Henrico, VA, passed away Friday, April 18, 2025, at her home. She was born July 26, 1937, in Queens, New York, daughter of the late William and Anna Mount.

‍Irene was preceded in death by her husband Walter Steele, Sr., her son William Steele, and her siblings William Mount, Rosemary Light, Marguerite Cain, and Richard Mount. ‍

Irene is survived by her son, Walter Steele, Jr. (Dorian) daughter Sandy Ju (Billy), four grandchildren Tanya Gotay (Eli), Mitchell Ju (Ai), Amanda Ju (Shaun Casey) and Samantha Steele (Luiz Lopes), great grandchildren Anthony Gotay, Hiroto Ju and Makito Ju.

Irene is survived by her siblings Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Faraone and Daniel Mount. Aunt Renie will be missed by her many loving and hilarious nieces and nephews.

‍She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Henrico, VA. She enjoyed her working years as a cashier, making friends with many customers and coworkers. Irene was especially fortunate to find a supportive and caring community in her neighborhood and she forged deep and meaningful friendships in her later years. She will surely be missed.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 23rd at Woody’s funeral home Parham Road. A Catholic funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 24th at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in The Columbarium at Saint Mary's.
