George Joseph Lewis, 90, passed away on July 16, 2021. Born November 21, 1930, in Richmond, VA, George was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years Ann Lee Cox Lewis and is survived by their children and spouses, Mary Ann Lewis Winchester (David), George Joseph Lewis Jr. (Janina), Cynthia Jeannette Overstreet (Keith) of Richmond, VA, Diane Lewis Robinson (Jay) of Baltimore, MD, and Christine Lewis Houska (Robert) of Warrenton, VA; 11 grandchildren, Cameron Winchester Boisvert (Trent), Grace Ann Gould (Zach Arrington), Cartie Winchester Pruitt (John), Jack and Ayden Robinson, Brad and Blair Houska, Carly, Rachel, Audrey and Coulter Lewis; and great granddaughter Sydney Ann Boisvert, along with many nieces and nephews.

The youngest of 8 children, he was the son of the late Mary Soffee and John A. Lewis who immigrated to Richmond, VA from Syria in 1907. George served in the Navy for a short time, after which he logged many miles during his 30+ years employment with East Coast Smith & Solomon Trucking Co. Devoted to his family and parish, St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, George's distinctive voice could be heard singing in the choir on Sundays. He was a generous host and took great care to ensure all who visited his home never left hungry, while many a Saturday was spent enjoying a day at the races with his brothers and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 22, at St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 4611 Sadler Rd., Glen Allen, Va. 23060, immediately followed by burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1400 S. Randolph St., Richmond, Va. 23220. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's memory to St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church at stanthonymaronitechurch.org.
