Obituary - George Calvin Burge

George Calvin Burge, 82, of Henrico VA passed away on August 9, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara C. Burge; daughter, Bonita B. Anderson; son, Ronald C. Burge; parents, Ed Witten and Mildred C. Burge; and sister, Barbara B. Atwell. He is survived by his daughter, Dana B. Osborne (Dan); grandchildren, Melissa A. Cherry (Adam), Bill L. Anderson, Jr. (Lara), Aubrey A. Burge, Wesley J. Burge, Georgia Sue Osborne, Janie A Burge, and Robert D. Osborne, III; great-grands, Julianna Anderson, William L. Anderson, III, Grace L. Cherry and Eleanor F. Cherry; brother, Ed W. Burge, Jr. (Debbie); sisters, Catherine B. Muire (Ray) and Sandra B. Umbarger along with many loved nephews, nieces and cousins. George enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Virginia Department of Transportation for over three decades and following his retirement, he worked as a consultant for RUST/Earth Tech. He was a member and faithful servant of Laurel Park United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Bliley’s 8510 Staples Mill Road from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with services beginning at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Lamb’s Basket-Food Distribution Center 8419 Oakview Ave. Henrico VA 23228.
