Gene Freeman Sr., 92, of Henrico, VA passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born in Marion, VA on May 27, 1932, son of the late, Gretchen and Andy Freeman.

Gene graduated from Marion High School, Class of 1949. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. After the war, he returned to take over his father’s business. He married the love of his life, Mary Jane Armstrong, on May 28, 1960, and they settled in Richmond, VA the same year. He was a loyal and loving man who cherished his wife and his family more than anything.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Bob; his sister, Norma “Boots”; daughter, Charlotte; and grandson, Brandon. In addition to his wife, Mary Jane (Armstrong) Freeman survivors include, his son, Gene Jr.; daughters, Gloria and Angie; eight grandchildren, Lynn, Chris, Shane, Tony, David, Michael, Ashley, and Joshua; eight great-grandchildren, Brittany, Sam, Gabi, Morgan, Kaylie, Kelsie, Autumn, and Carter; and three great-great-grandchildren, Ryder, McKinleigh, and Ivieanne.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Gene touched are invited to the viewing at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Parkway, Richmond, VA 23294, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, October 28, 2024. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Affinity Funeral Service, Richmond Chapel. A graveside service at Rose Lawn Cemetery, 4410 Lee Highway, Marion, VA 24354, will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
