Gary Joe Cobb, 85, of Henrico, passed away suddenly January 6, 2021 after battling Parkinson’s Disease for many years. He was born December 31, 1935 in Billings, MO to James H. Cobb and Lora Holder Cobb. Growing up in the Ozark Mountains he believed in always treating people with respect and care. He was never going to treat you wrong, always in a spirit of honesty and giving back in love, and as a man of integrity. He was an U.S. Army Veteran serving a term of duty at Camp Zama, Japan. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen St. John; three children, JoAnn C. Mollisee (Sam), Gary Stuart Cobb and Stanford C. Cobb; three granddaughters, Taylor N. Cobb, Summer M. Cobb and Ashley C. Mollisee; two sisters, Meta Shriner of Monett, MO and Linda Cutbirth (Tom) of Crane, MO; two brothers-in-law, David C. St. John (Patricia) and Joseph N. St. John (Marie); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a very skilled and trained mechanic enjoying working on autos and diesel engines and taught classes in Mechanicsville at Rich Technical Institute. Mr. Cobb was a long time member of Monument Heights Baptist Church serving as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and working with youths in Missions, always willing to share his faith and love of Jesus with others. A motorcyclist at heart, he loved and enjoyed riding. In 1977 he joined a Christian Motorcycle Ministry and was active for more than 30 years traveling the United States and sharing his faith. He was the force behind founding the BMW Riders of Richmond that grew into an active and large group. He retired from the U.S. Government after working 32 years at Defense General Supply Center. Along with his traveling he enjoyed sports, especially baseball and bowling. He loved watching his sons play little league. He was a country music fan, Marty Robbins was his favorite. His family and friends made his world, where caring, honesty, patience and humbleness led him to always do his best. His love will always be with us, he will be greatly missed. His family is very grateful that he is now happy and free of pain. Wait for me “Babe” I’ll be there and we will stroll through heaven together. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 11 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Rough Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Phenix, Va.
