Garnett Dawn Burnell, 88, of Highland Springs, departed her worldly life on August 27, 2022 to be with her lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in her death by her mother, Alice Caros Mye; father Sebastian Mye; husband(s), Robert Stivers and Richard Burnell; daughter, Michelle Stivers Perrin; sister, Hazel Mye; and brother, Edward “Buddy” Mye.

Surviving her are her children, Dawnmarie Baldwin, Robert Stivers Jr., Belinda Durham (Stuart), Donna Hart, Wendy Seay (Robbie); son-in-law; Todd Perrin; surrogate son, Jamie Boyer; long time friends, Betty Harris, Linda Morris, and Anita Graves; as well as a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was affectionately known as "Nanny" and "Momma Dawn" to her many children biological or not. She worked for many years for King’s Department Stores and retired from VCU Health System. She loved animals and usually had her pups only a few steps behind her at home.

She always had an affinity for quirky knick knacks and was never afraid to be bold in her decor choices. She also loved a bargain and frequented the local dollar stores often.

She loved with all of her heart and always saw the good in everyone she met. She would truly give her last dollar to someone in need. She will be sorely missed but never forgotten. Her service will be Sunday, September 4th at 2 p.m. at Corinth United Methodist Church in Sandston, VA. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Richmond Animal Care & Control Foundation (RACC) in her honor.
