Evelyn P. Purcell, “Ernie,” 87, of Highland Springs, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Purcell on November 23, 2002 and her son, Mark Purcell on November 30, 2007.
She was a longtime volunteer at Sheltering Arms and a member of Newbridge Baptist Church. Ernie was the last of her siblings, she liked gardening and loved her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Tush and her husband, Mark; son, Brent Purcell and his wife, Kim; grandchildren, Justin, Amanda, Hanna, Jonathan, Andrew, Mary Cameron, Macie; great grandchildren, Bristol, Noxleigh, Lexi, Willow, Lilly, Jaxon and Gauge; and a large circle of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends 4 to 8 pm, Monday, June 5 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave, Richmond, VA. 23231, where a funeral service will be held, 12 pm, Tuesday, June 6. Burial will follow at 2 pm at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations in her name to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
