HIATT, Elizabeth “Betsy” Jones of Henrico entered into eternal rest on February 23, 2024. She was 58 years old. She is survived by her devoted husband of 27 years, E. Charles “Buddy” Hiatt, Jr.; children, Jackson Catesby “Jack” Hiatt and Margaret Grace “Maggie” Hiatt; brother, Catesby C. Jones (Sarah) of Richmond; and sister, Brooke Jones Hodges (Tom) of Towson, Md.; along with several nieces, nephews, a great-niece and two great-nephews and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Catesby Brooke Jones and Margaret Gaffney Jones of Richmond.

Betsy attended St. Catherine’s School in Richmond before graduating from St. Margaret’s School in Tappahannock, Va. in 1984. She furthered her education at Mary Baldwin College earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History in 1988.

After starting her career with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, she quickly progressed to positions of leadership with Hecht’s and Capital One. Ultimately, she transitioned into the role of her dreams, that of wife and mom.

Betsy adored and cherished her family and was by far their biggest champion and cheerleader. Betsy enjoyed a lifelong passion of reading, doing needlepoint, cheering on her kids at a ballfield and spending time at the family home and on the beach at Martha’s Vineyard.

All our family and friends are invited to a celebration of life planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at River Road United Methodist Church, 8800 River Rd, Henrico, Va., with a reception to immediately follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Margaret’s School or, better still, plant something beautiful in your world.
