Obituary - Eleanor Florine Gillie Nunnally

Eleanor Florine Gillie Nunnally, 97, of Highland Springs, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 17, 2022 with her family by her side.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. "Jimmy" Nunnally; parents, Florine C.Gillie and Thomas R. Gillie Sr.; and a brother, Thomas R. Gillie Jr. Mrs. Nunnally is survived by a son, J. C. Nunnally (Brenda); a daughter, Debbie N. Boatwright; grandchildren, Heather Buffkin (Tim), James W. Nunnally, II (Amber), Johnny Boatwright, and Greg Owens; great-grandchildren, McKenna, Tanner, Kate, Jack, Eleanor, Timothy, Lexi and Reilly; and a loving niece, Suzanne Lehner.

Eleanor lived in Highland Springs for 94 years. Her family moved to Highland Springs from Petersburg for her father to open a barbershop. She was a homemaker who was meticulous about her home and her garden. Eleanor volunteered 18 years as church Librarian at New Bridge Baptist Church, a position that gave her great joy. She was also a member of the Vivian Butler WMU Baptist Group.

The family wishes to thank the staff of The Barrington at Hioaks for the compassionate care given to Mrs. Nunnally.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116. A funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Woody Funeral Home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Ln, Richmond, VA 23222.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the library fund at New Bridge Baptist Church, 5701 Elko Rd., Sandston, Va. 23150.
