It is with deep sorrow and loving memory that we announce the passing of Edith "Edie" May Walters Christ on August 26, 2024, at the age of 95 after battling dementia. Born on January 12, 1929, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the embodiment of kindness and playfulness —attributes that she carried throughout her long and fruitful life.

With a heart ever devoted to her family, Edie leaves behind a legacy of enduring love through her cherished husband of 73 years, Nick Christ, her beloved children, Jeff (Sandra) and Carrie (Libby), her treasured granddaughter Halie Becker (Mike), and her adorable great-grandson Crew. She is survived by her baby sister Dorothy (Morrell), and will be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews. Edie is reunited in death with her big brother, Jack Walters.

Faith was a cornerstone of Edie's life. She was an active member of the Skipwith United Methodist Church. Her dedication to her faith community included her involvement with the SOS (Seniors of Skipwith) group and leading her church circle. Edie's service extended to her work as a Brownie leader and participation in a Colonial Dance group alongside her husband, Nick.

Edie's joy of life, her unwavering commitment to her family, and her dedication to her church and community remain an inspiration to all who knew her. Her warmth, generosity, and silly humor will be profoundly missed.

A memorial service to honor Edie's life will be held on Saturday, August 31st, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall at Cedarfield, 2300 Cedarfield Parkway, Henrico, VA.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the staff at Cedarfield's Magnolia Meadows for their compassionate care in Edie's final years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Edie to the Skipwith United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 32104, Henrico, VA 23294, to continue her legacy of faith and charity.
