Obituary - Edith Davis Greaner

Our beloved mother, Edith Davis Greaner, age 95, of Richmond, VA, went home to be with the Lord on December 20, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Nellie Foster of Mineral, VA; her siblings, Mildred Foster Souther, Joyce Foster Nelson and Col. Robert Allen Foster. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Foster; daughters, Linda Thomas, Nancy Poythress and Marianne McGhee; grandchildren, Mitch DeShazo (Dionne), Christopher Thomas (Leslie), Hunter and Kathryn McGhee; and great-grandchildren, nieces and a nephew.
Edith was also preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Greaner; and Becky Greaner Valentin. She is survived by April Barfus (Bill), Michael Greaner, Ivy Greaner, Steven Greaner; and grandchildren, Alex and Hallie Greaner, Tom Bickham (Maysel), Sheri Bull (Alax), and Danielle Brown (Todd); and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by longtime companion, Aubrey Stratton.
Edith retired from C & P Telephone Company. She enjoyed singing with her sister, Joyce, at Bon Air Baptist Church. Edith was a lifelong member of Hatcher Memorial serving as deacon and Sunday school teacher. She also was involved in the Christian Woman’s Club for many years.
Mom was blessed in her later years by loving care givers, Dottie Scott, Karen Reed and Stanley Godin.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 7, at Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church, 2300 Dumbarton Rd. Richmond, VA. Visitation starts at 10:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
