Obituary - Dorothy Epperly Marshall

MARSHALL, Dorothy E. “Dot”, 92, passed peacefully on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

She is survived by her children, Richard E. Marshall (Debbie), Dawn Marshall and Dianne Dowdy (“Sweet-Pea”); two grandchildren, Michael E. Marshall (Angela) and Nathan Dowdy, Jr.; step-grandchild, Matthew (Carina); great grandchildren, Zachary A. Marshall, Treasure Marshall and Michael E. Marshall, Jr.; step great grandchildren Brandon, Annabelle, Austin, Blake, Grayson and Allie; and numersous nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Mykka.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Col. (retired) Wallace E. “Mike” Marshall and parents Kyle and Thelma Epperly.

Dot graduated from Grace Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at Grace Hospital and later for Henrico County Public Schools as the school nurse at Baker Elementary School for 30 plus years. Dot dedicated her life to caring for those around her and loved volunteering her time at Baker Elementary after retiring. Dot loved playing cards with family and enjoyed an ice-cold Cherry Coke and Dad’s Root Beer candy.

Family will have a private burial in Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please make memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, Bon Secours Hospice, the American Cancer Society or Medical College of Virginia Foundation’s Nursing Fund.
